Teatro Zinzanni... eh. Not so much really. Kinda like
Cirque du Soleil lite, with dinner. But it was cute and something new for Ashley. I think she enjoyed it.
Yesterday Doug and I took
Surviving the First 6 Weeks at the UCSF Women's health center. We were the only daddy/papa combo but everyone was very nice and very interested in our story. We also had the second closest due date, so all the other first time parents were freaking out on our behalf. The class was taught by a
doula who gave us a lecture about disposable diapers (SF alone generates 41 million + disposable diapers each year I am told) but she had lots of good advice, the gist of which was that babies are hardy little things and very individual and as you bond with them you'll just kind of figure out what works and what doesn't for yours. I
learned to change a diaper (!) and that little boys will pee all over the place while you do it. We learned to swaddle... much like making a burrito. We learned about bathing. And I
learned (way too much) about what
women's bodies go through post-
partem and breast feeding. The
doula even thanked Doug and I for out patience with a lot of material that clearly didn't pertain to us. But it was interesting and made me thankful we get to hit the ground running as opposed to recovering from passing a watermelon. Our practice baby not only survived but thrived under our care.
After class we went shopping for new computer station. We're moving the entire office into our bedroom to make room for the nursery, and since our (vintage Ikea) desk is always a mess I want something smaller with more shelves and DOORS so I don't have to see all that crap. Looked at several places but so far nada.
Saturday night packed a picnic and took Ash to Movies in the Park (The Graduate at Washington Square). She loved it. Larrabbee was not impressed. We've already marked our calenders for Hairspray in Dolores Park June 2 (who else is in?).
Sunday more desk hunting, to no avail, picked up Giants tickets for next weekend, bopped over to Costco, sold the love seat, table and chair from the office on Craigslist and had Brad, Chad, Suz and giant baby Carson (15 months, 30 lbs!) over for dinner. Easier than it sounds, as Brad brought most of the dinner over. Thanks Uncle Brad! And Suz brought tons o' great baby hand-me-downs. Thanks Suz!
Oh, and I think i finally fixed the comments.. they weren't enabled or something... who knows. Anyway, say hi whydoncha?
